“ODYSSEY 2017”

On September 23rd, the Athens Concert Hall, in collaboration with the international organizations EllinikoThεαtro – as part of its “Theater of Peace” umbrella of projects – and “International Readers of Homer”, presents a nightlong participatory reading of Homer’s Odyssey (Modern Greek translation by Kazantzakis-Kakridis [2017 year of Kazantzakis] and English translation by Stanley Lombardo).

This reading “Odyssey” began 19 years ago, marking huge success worldwide. This year, for the first time on the stage of the Athens Concert Hall, 200 readers of all ages and nationalities will read and perform the Homeric epic accompanied by music. The text will be displayed on screens, in English and Greek. The 10-hour event will be broadcast live on international sites.

ODYSSEY 2017 is part of “Art Night Athens”, a cycle of events organized by Atenistas, is dedicated to the modern odyssey of people hosted in Greece and the world, and is under the auspice of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
