June 27 through July 19, 2015 — 9pm
at the courtyard of the Athens University Museum in Plaka, beneath the Acropolis
under the auspices of The City of Athens Cultural, Sport & Youth Organization,
Greek National Tourism Organization and Society for the Environment & Cultural Heritage
Take a seat in the court of ancient Athens as Socrates goes on trial for his life. Hear the philosopher face his accusers with his trademark wit, cutting logic, and the courage of his ideals. Consider his arguments on virtue, justice, politics, civic duty, love of life and hope in death, and draw your own judgement. Enjoy the post-performance opportunity to discuss with the actor the ramifications of your verdict.
Think. Question. Change.
The international theatrical production based on Plato’s “Apology” returns to the beautiful courtyard of the Athens University Museum building, beneath the Acropolis, a few steps from where the philosopher was sentenced to death 2400 years ago.
