Socrates Now returns to its origin for three shows!

Following 450 performance-discourses to more than 200,000 people in 20 countries and 8 languages, Plato’s timeless classic “The Apology of Socrates” returns to its origin for the 6th consecutive celebratory summer. The performance-discourse will be in English on the 15th & 16th of July, for foreign visitors and the citizens of Athens at the 104 Theatre at Keramikos area.

Socrates NOW, a production of the Greek Theater of  EllinikoThεatro is a 75-minute solo piece that captures the essence of Socratic ethics in an accessible and engaging manner. Yannis Simonides channels the eccentric yet magnetic personality of Socrates and offers a profoundly social, political, but above all human work which captivates the audience with the humor, immediacy and simplicity of its theatrical rendition. An integral part of the performance is the open discussion that follows between the acclaimed artist and the public. Major theaters and distinguished educational institutions such as Yale, Harvard, Columbia, the Oxford and Cambridge universities, Moscow, Istanbul, Strasbourg, Melbourne and Nicosia, as well as the Aristotle and the National and Kapodistrian  university of Athens countries hosted the show along with interactive seminars under the coordination of Yannis Simonides on Socratic Ethics and Practice, and how it can be useful in contemporary society and the younger generation.
