This summer, we present our ATHENS2018 festival!

EllinikoThεαtro presents the international performing arts festival ATHENS2018 in collaboration with our beloved Theatre 104 in Gazi.

Theatrical productions from New York and Edinburgh, documentaries and shorts by filmmakers from the United Kingdom and New Zealand, American literature, and a series of interdisciplinary masterclasses by international artists showcase EllinikoThεatro’s continued dedication to dialogue bridging cultures of the world.

The multi-award winning, hilarious one-man show Rent Control, written and performed by Greek American Evan Zes, is coming home for the first time and only for five performances.  In English, with Greek surtitles.

After a six-year, internationally sold-out run of Socrates NOW, Emmy-award winner Yannis Simonides returns to the stage with Cavafy: Poet of the City.  This theatrical poetry performance brings to life the extraordinary work of treasured Greek poet Constantine P. Cavafy. In Greek, with English surtitles.

The theatrical performance Water Wings, a play about friendship, guilt, and the deep end, makes its Greek premiere as translated and adapted by Athina Kefalopoulou and directed by Amymoni Protopapa. Water Wings (Τα Μπρατσάκια) presents a story that is seen through the friendship of Anna and Katerina. Two different people are walking along, holding each other by the hand – when their lives and circumstances allow it. Sometimes they take different paths leaving one to wonder about the other’s choices. In Greek.

In celebration of Athens’ designation as World Book Capital for 2018, EllinikoThεαtro brings celebrated authors Lynne Tillman and Ranbir Sidhu to Athens. One of the most prominent contemporary thinkers on art, culture, and society, Ms Tillman reads from her latest novel, Men and Apparitions. Mr Sidhu premiers his new work, documentaries on art, life and madness that showcase international artists currently working in Crete.

From New Zealand Vicky Yiannoutsos, an award-winning director in theatre and film with over 35 years experience as a producer, director, writer and acting coach, comes to Theatre 104 to present her work and train new actors and directors.

ATHENS2018 provides opportunities to meet and learn from the international performing artists, writers, and directors participating in the festival. EllinikoThεatro In Class presents masterclasses at Theatre 104 on acting, script development, voice, directing, auditioning, and writing.
